Original islanders Gemma Owen and Luca Bish were paired up with separate candidates at the beginning of this year’s series (Davide Sanclimenti and Paige Thorne), but quickly recognized they had emotions for one another and partnered up in week three.
Despite a few post-challenge disagreements and Luca’s tensions with fellow contender Tasha Ghouri, Gemma, 19, and Luca, 23, proceeded to finish second in the final with little difficulty.
Now, however, despite Luca’s recent “proposal”-like an effort to finally ask Gemma to be his girlfriend, the couple has separated after only three months…
Are Gemma and Luca Still Together?
Sadly, following Paige and Adam’s breakup, there are now only three remaining Love Island 2022 couples, as Luca and Gemma join the increasing list of failed villa relationships.
On November 16, Gemma revealed their decision to break up on her Instagram story with the following statement: “To all of my supporters. I wanted to inform you that my relationship with Luca has ended.
“This was not an easy choice, but it is ultimately what is best for us both at this time. Many of you have been on this trip with us from the beginning, and I appreciate your continued support as we begin new chapters. Love forever Gem.”

A few hours later, Luca issued his own statement, which stated: “After taking some time to clear my head after an intense afternoon, I reactivated my phone to discover thousands of messages and news articles about my breakup.
“I would have loved some time to contemplate this discreetly, but as you all are aware, Gemma and I mutually decided to part ways earlier today. Together, we have been on such an incredible adventure and have created experiences that I will always cherish.”
Before adding, “I cannot thank everyone enough for their support during and after our time on Love Island. We will remain close friends, and I wish her only the best.”
Many fans felt that Luca’s comment suggested he was uninformed that Gemma was going to announce their separation on that day, as he stated, “I would have liked some time to digest this privately”; nonetheless, Luca assured them that they will remain “excellent friends.”
